Why am I getting poor print quality with my Afinia L801?
Print quality in your Afinia L801 and L801 Plus Label Printer can be affected by the following:
- Dirty printhead
- Dirty paper path
- Or a service station microfiber roller that has reached its life expectancy

The first thing that you need to try is to utilize the built-in cleaning functions within the printer. The Afinia L801 Label Printer has 3 modes of cleaning (Normal, Extended, Extreme). Always begin with running a Normal clean on the printhead before moving to the Extended and Extreme cleaning modes. After running a clean on the printhead – print some test labels to see if the poor print quality has been resolved. If the print quality remains poor, visually inspect the printhead to determine if there is any damage or debris on the printhead or within the paper path.
Debris and paper dust can cause poor print quality which is why it is important to routinely clean the paper path to ensure no debris or paper dust collects on the printhead or along the paper path. If cleaning the paper path and using the built-in printhead cleaning functions do not rectify the poor print quality the problem may be with the service station microfiber roller. Ensure that the service station microfiber roller does not need to be replaced. The Support Department suggests that the service station microfiber roller should be replaced after every other printhead replacement. If none of the steps mentioned above helps to resolve the poor print quality the printhead may need to be replaced.
As a reminder when the decision has been made to replace the printhead our Support Department suggests a replacement printhead be purchased.
