MANDATORY Driver and Firmware Update Verification
Instructions for confirming your Afinia L801 Driver and Firmware are current. If it is not current, please follow the instructions below for updating.
Verify your Driver and Firmware are current:
- L801 Driver Verification - Reference the screenshot below to confirm that you have Driver version: 0.3.4615.13. To access this information, go to Windows Settings>Printers and Scanners>Afinia L801>Printer Properties>About tab. The screen below should be displayed. Please verify the driver version is correct.
- L801 Firmware Verification - Reference the screenshot below to confirm that you have Firmware version: 25030516. To access this information, go to the Afinia L801 Toolbox. The screen below should be displayed. Please verify that the firmware version is correct
Steps for Updating the L801 Driver to Version: 0.3.4615.13
- Step 1:Â Export custom sizes
- Step 2: Uninstall the dated Afinia L801 & L801 Plus driver using one of the two methods below. You will not need to uninstall the software using both steps.
- Â Â Â Step 2A: Start Menu > All > Afinia Folder > Uninstall Afinia L801 Label Printer Driver
- Â Â Â Step 2B: Launch Add or Remove Programs> Locate Afinia L801 Label Printer > Select Uninstall
- Step 3: Download the Afinia L801 Driver and Firmware software bundle from our support section. (Afinia L801 Downloads Section > L801 & L801 Plus Driver & Firmware)
- Step 4: Install the Driver. Refer to your printer driver installation instructions in the user manual (section 7, page 18).
- Â Â Â NOTE: DO NOT UPDATE THE FIRMWARE WHEN PROMPTED DURING THE DRIVER INSTALL.
- Step 5:Â Reboot the printer.
- Step 6:Â Import custom sizes
Steps for Updating the L801 Firmware to Version: 25030516
- Step 1: Download the Afinia L801 Driver and Firmware software bundle from our support section. (Afinia L801 Downloads Section > L801 & L801 Plus Driver & Firmware)
- Â Â Â There is no need to download the software bundle a second time if the L801 driver update process was performed as listed above.
- Step 2: Extract the zip file. IMPORTANT:Â Follow the Firmware update procedure in the PDF in the extracted folder.Â
- Step 3: Confirm in the toolbox that your firmware version is 25030516.
- Step 4: Email the firmware update screenshot verification to Support@vividdatallc.com. (See screenshot examples under L801 Firmware Verification above.) Access the system information from the printer toolbox.
What happens if I do not update the firmware?
If the Firmware is not updated on the printer and new ink tanks are installed, the ink and printhead may be rendered unusable.
