FAQs: Canon Card and Badge Printers

Do you feature a Canon printer that can produce cards resistant to wear and tear?

Absolutely! The Canon IX-R7000 Card and Badge Printer uses dye-sublimation technology that allows for printing that can handle everyday wear.

What is the difference between dye and dye-sublimation?

Pertaining to how the print is established on the surface of your card or badge, dye prints are transferred by contact and quickly dried on the material, whereas dye-sublimation is fused to plastic cards by heat transfer. While both create great prints, the former will perform best when you need to create quickly and in high volumes, while the latter does great in making durable printing, specifically to be used with plastic cards.

How do I choose the correct material size for my Canon Card and Badge Printer?

While our Canon Card and Badge Printers accommodate different sizes of cards and badges, the CX-G2400 and CX-G6400 printers work in widths of 2” and 4” sizes, respectively, with both paper and plastic materials, while the IX-R7000 prints exclusively on CR80 (2.13′′ x 3.38′′) plastic cards. We recommend considering the amount of information you need to include on your credentials, as well as the situations for which you will need your Canon Card and Badge Printer.
