Overview
Epson printers are specifically designed as a color upgrade to using black-and-white thermal transfer printers, and pre-printed labels meet the necessary color requirements for pictograms under the current GHS labeling requirements. The Epson ColorWorks C6000 series of Color Inkjet Label Printers (the C6000 and C6500) delivers on-demand, color GHS labels at a comparable price. Engineered for mission-critical applications, these reliable printers speed through labels at up to 5" per second at up to 1200 DPI and widths up to 8.34”. The crisp, sharp images and text ensure these labels are bright, readable, and comparable to pre-printed labels.
The C6000 Series comes in two widths: the C6000, which prints labels up to 4.25” wide (great for small containers such as quarts), and the C6500, which prints labels up to 8.34” wide (perfect for gallon and drum labels). There are two models, the Auto Cutter (A) or Peeler (P), to create variable-length labels and enable easy job separation, and they are ideal for fast, print-and-apply applications. The Auto Cutter will cut the label web at a specified number of labels or at the end of a job. The Peeler will print a label and simultaneously peel and present it for the operator to grab and apply to the product. The printers are compatible with Bartender, Loftware, ZPL II, SAP®, and more, and are built to accommodate remote printer management. These versatile printers offer seamless integration with your existing infrastructure and workflow without an expensive IT project.

The Epson Colorworks line of printers is a pigment-based inkjet printer that is well‑suited for producing compliant Globally Harmonized System (GHS) labels when paired with the correct synthetic media. These make great, affordable printers for GHS labels, whether you are printing a few at a time or a large batch. For those unique situations, the minimum batch size is one!
GHS (Globally Harmonized System) labels require durable, high‑contrast, chemical‑resistant printing. The Epson ColorWorks series (C6000/C6500/C7500/C8000) can produce compliant GHS labels when paired with the correct media and workflow. Epson ColorWorks printers, with UltraChrome DL pigment ink and this media, are BS 5609 certified to meet OSHA's Hazard Communication Requirements to ensure compliance and safety.
GHS labels require durable, clear text printing that can withstand chemicals, abrasion, moisture, and UV exposure. The Colorworks line uses PrecisionCore printhead technology to produce high-resolution text and images on durable synthetic materials such as Polyester (PET), Polypropylene (BOPP), or Vinyl‑based synthetics designed for inkjet printing systems. Pigment ink consists of tiny insoluble solid particles (pigments) suspended in a liquid. Pigment particles are typically inorganic or highly stable organic compounds. The particles are much less reactive to environmental factors like UV light, oxygen, humidity, and pollutants, making them less subject to breakdown in harsh environments.
There are two ways to use these printers: either with blank labels or pre-printed labels. The printers are full-color CMYK Printers, so you can print any full-color logo, graphic, or text on a blank label. If you have labels that are pre-printed with a logo or other special graphics, then the printers can be used to fill in the specific product variable data from an SDS form or even add the appropriate pictograms with the required red diamonds.
