Process Improvment Combo GraphicPinnpoint Integration Module (PIM) is an application that will merge shipping labels and packing slips into a single PDF file and duplex print them on Pinnpoint Print and Ship. PIM can optionally include return labels and RFID tracking using Pinnpoint’s Print Ship & Return labels. What it does when it is launched, PIM will look in the configured folder for any PDF shipping labels. For each PDF file found, it will look for the corresponding packing list PDF file and optionally for the corresponding return label. If matching files are found, they will be merged together, scaled to the proper size, and duplex-printed on the Pinnpoint label with optional RFID encoding. Printed files are then deleted or archived depending on the configuration. Also, depending on how PIM is configured, it will either run once and then stop or continue to run periodically, looking for new PDF files.

What is PIM?

LP654C_1000x1000PIM is distributed as a Java 8 jar file containing the PIM class. PIM is configured through an .ini file to specify file locations, naming conventions, run frequency, and more. PDF Manipulation is enabled by installing Coherent PDF, which is licensed through Pinnpoint. RFID encoding ability is enabled by installing Lexmark’s RFID Tag Generator. Apache Commons-Net is used to FTP the image to the printer. By default, the printer must be configured to print duplex. Launch of PIM is via the provided batch file. PIM can be set up to use both Print & Ship labels and Print Ship & Return with optional RFID. The printer can have one drawer with the A5 Print & Ship label, one with the letter-size Print Ship & Return with RFID, and a third drawer with plain paper, creating a complete logistics solution. PIM is made to work seamlessly with the Printronix LP654C Color Industrial Laser Printer. The LP654C is the world’s smallest Letter/A4 size printer yet capable of printing speeds up to 35ppm in high-definition color. The LP654C’s innovative space-saving technology includes full front access, allowing the printer to fit and operate in a very tight space, only requiring 20mm space around the sides.
